1. Where is Ippaktei located?

Ippakutei is built in the Embassy of Japan’s property. It is located at 2520 Massachusetts Avenue NW.

2. Is parking available?

Parking is not available at this venue. There are limited street parking spots around the location. If possible, please consider taking public transportation or carpooling.

3. Do you accept walk-in on the day?

No, you need to be pre-registered in the system to enter the property of the Embassy of Japan.

4. Do I need to bring anything for admission?

There is no ticket. Please print a copy of your confirmation email and show it at the gate with your picture ID.

5. When is the registration desk open?

The registration desk is open from 12:00 until 4:00, and the last session of the classic style tea ceremony is from 3:30. If you are interested in participating in the classic style tea ceremony, please arrive at the location before 3:30 with ample time for your registration.

6. Can I make a reservation for the classic style tea ceremony?

For the classic style tea ceremony at Ippakutei, you will be asked to make a reservation for a specific time slot at the registration desk upon your arrival. Please kindly note that it will be first come first served basis. While you wait for your reservation, you can also participate in a modern style tea ceremony without additional charges. Please feel free to walk around the beautiful garden and enjoy a relaxed afternoon with full bloomed cherry blossoms.

7. Can I cancel my reservation?

Unfortunately, the purchase is the final. Refund will not be made for any reasons. However, you can give your ticket to someone else. In that case, please send an e-mail to rsvpdc@domonkai-usa-east.org, to inform your name and the participant’s name before midnight, Thursday, March 29. If not, the participants cannot go through the security.

8. I (or my guest) cannot attend. Can I give my ticket to a friend?

Yes, please see question No. 7.

9. I want to bring my kids, who are under 12. Do I need to register all of them?

Yes, you need to register them. Please keep your children under your supervision at all times.
